Preserve Forever — how to permanently delete your account and what happens to your data
How to delete your account
Open the app or website
Sign in to Preserve Forever on the mobile app (iOS or Android) or at preserveforever.photos.
Go to Account Settings
Tap or click your profile icon, then select Account. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
Tap "Delete Account"
Tap Delete Account. You will be shown a confirmation screen explaining exactly what will be deleted before anything is removed.
Confirm deletion
Confirm your decision. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.
Can't access your account?
If you are unable to sign in and wish to request account deletion, email us at privacy@preserveforever.photos from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days in accordance with GDPR Article 17.
What is deleted
- All photos and videos you have uploaded (deleted from hot storage within 30 days; from cold archive storage within 90 days)
- All thumbnails and preview files
- Your profile information (name, email address, preferences)
- All share links you have created
- Your shared album memberships and contributions
- Your face recognition groups and all associated facial embeddings (deleted immediately from AWS Rekognition — no grace period)
- Your storage pool membership or ownership
- Your notification history
- Your active subscription (cancelled immediately with Stripe)
What is kept, and why
The following data is retained after account deletion. None of it contains your photos, videos, or personal profile information.
NCMEC CyberTipline reports
Required by U.S. law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A). We are legally obligated to retain these records and cannot delete them on request.
Anonymised transaction records
Retained for up to 7 years for financial and tax compliance purposes. These records do not contain your photos or profile data.
Aggregate, anonymised usage statistics
Non-personal. Cannot be linked back to your account after deletion.
